Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
What CDCP is
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program helping uninsured Canadians access dental care. It is administered by Sun Life on behalf of the Government of Canada. The plan launched in June 2024 and has rolled out by age group. Coverage is income-tiered, with a graduated copay structure for households under $90,000.
Only the Government of Canada determines eligibility. Pacific One can explain the plan and help you check your status, but we can’t approve you ourselves.
Who can use CDCP
CDCP eligibility requires four things:
- Canadian residency
- Household income under $90,000
- No other dental insurance
- Filing a tax return
As of 2026, CDCP is open to most age groups. Confirm your specific eligibility on the official Government of Canada CDCP page.
What you might still pay
Most CDCP patients have a copay percentage based on household income:
- Household under $70,000 — 0% copay
- $70,000–$80,000 — 40% copay
- $80,000–$90,000 — 60% copay
Some services aren’t covered at all. Pacific One quotes any out-of-pocket cost in writing before treatment begins. No surprise bills.
How to use CDCP at Pacific One
- Check your status on the official CDCP page.
- Get your CDCP letter from Sun Life. It confirms your start date and coverage tier.
- Book a visit and bring the letter (digital or printed).
- We bill CDCP directly. Any copay quoted in writing first.
CDCP for kids and seniors
Children under 18 and seniors 65+ have been eligible since CDCP launched.
